Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a comprehensive, destination-based indirect tax levied on the supply of goods and services across India. Introduced on 1 July 2017, GST replaced multiple Central and State indirect taxes with a unified tax system, creating a common national market under the principle of "One Nation, One Tax, One Market."
GST is a value-added tax, where tax is levied at each stage of the supply chain with the benefit of Input Tax Credit (ITC), ensuring that tax is charged only on the value added at each stage. This eliminates the cascading effect of taxes and promotes transparency and efficiency in the taxation system.

Noida Customs Commissionerate was created vide Ministry's Notification No. 78/2014-Cus (N.T.) read with Notification No. 82/2014-Cus (N.T.) both Dated 16th September 2014 within the jurisdiction of Customs, Central Excise & Service Tax, Meerut Zone, Meerut. It started functioning effect from 15th October, 2014 at CONCOR Complex, Tilpatta, Greater Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar (U.P.).
Further as per Notification No. 82/2017-Customs (N.T.) dated 24.08.2017, the jurisdiction of Noida Customs Commissionerate was expanded as below:

The Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 empowers every citizen of India to seek information from public authorities with a view to promoting transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Government. The Act seeks to ensure an informed citizenry, prevent corruption, and make public authorities more accountable to the people.
As a public authority under the RTI Act, the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Department is committed to providing information to citizens in accordance with the provisions of the Act, while ensuring that information exempted under the Act is protected.
To file an RTI application, submit a written request to the concerned Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) along with the prescribed application fee of ₹10, or file the application online through the RTI Online Portal. The application should clearly specify the information sought and include the applicant's name and contact details.
A First Appeal is filed when the Public Information Officer (PIO) does not reply within the prescribed time, rejects the RTI application, or provides unsatisfactory information. It is filed before the First Appellate Authority (FAA) within 30 days of the PIO's decision or the due date of the reply.
A Second Appeal is filed under Section 19(3) of the Right to Information Act, 2005 when an applicant is dissatisfied with the decision of the First Appellate Authority or receives no decision. It is filed before the Central Information Commission (CIC) or the State Information Commission (SIC) within 90 days. The Commission may direct the Public Information Officer to provide the requested information or pass any other appropriate order under the Act.
